- This Association represents the loft insulation
contracting industry and its material suppliers, upholding technical
and professional standards.
- Insulation of the loft is the starting place for
cost effective insulation. As much as 20% of heating costs can be
saved (government literature).
- Building regulations require loft insulation to
0.25W/m²K (a depth of 150mm) and to 0.2W/m²K (depth of
200mm) in less energy efficient buildings. The latter is the
economic depth that should be applied to all existing buildings
today. This can be achieved by topping-up the existing insulation.
- Professional contractors are important to ensure
thermally effective installation, with attention to adequate
ventilation in the loft and lagging of tanks, pipes and loft
hatches. Association members offer good quality workmanship and use
only approved (to British Standard 5803) materials and processes.
This includes both mat and blown systems throughout the UK.
